Alex studied genetics at University College London. A spell working as a wildlife guide in Scotland and a general love of wildlife led him to ecology consultancy. He now specialises in ecological surveys of larger sites and also undertakes ecological impact assessments and net gain assessments.
Alex is a keen birdwatcher and participates in volunteer bird surveys for the British Trust for Ornithology. Alex also gardens voraciously and is a keen propagator and grower of plants. His garden in Somerset is open annually for charity and has been featured in Gardens illustrated and The English Garden - see here for a recent article about how the garden was designed with ecology and wildlife in mind
